NSBTM Activities

From Melinda Gardiner, Dee Sweeney and Christina Tourin

We hope all of you are enjoying the first days of the new year – it’s hard to believe we’re already starting a new one.

We are writing to share an exciting NSBTM initiative with you and to ask your help and support.

It’s time to “broaden our umbrella” to provide information and connections to the wider therapeutic music community.  To do so, we came up with the idea of establishing a “Friends of Therapeutic Music” membership category for individuals and organization who wish to support therapeutic music and the work of the Board.   The tax-deductible contribution will provide the following benefits:

  1. Updates on current and emerging research on therapeutic music
  2. Legislative alerts on issues that promote or hinder the progress of the NSBTM and its goals
  3. An opportunity for interaction with the NSBTM and its membership for advancement of the profession
  4. “Friend” listing on the website and opportunities for promotion of approved events

You can help us by sending us the contact information of supporters of therapeutic music who you know and/or work with so that I can send them an invitation. For example: healthcare staff, chaplains, program coordinators, administrators.

You can also become a “Friend” yourself.  Let us know if you are interested by contacting us.

Note from Christina: We are looking for someone to represent the IHTP and serve on the National Standards Board for Therapeutic Musicians. You will automatically receive your 20 CEUs for your service. Please contact me if you would like to serve the field of Therapeutic in this way. You will be making policy decisions for the future of Therapeutic Music.
